NEW YEAR’S DAY: The first two Premier League games of 2017. Watford v Spurs at 1.30pm is followed by Arsenal v Crystal Palace. We preview both matches with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Watford v Tottenham
1.30pm Watford will have been reasonably happy with a point against Crystal Palace last time out after disappointingly losing 1-0 to Sunderland the match before. They have been struggling recently bar beating Everton 3-2, and with Spurs seemingly hitting form midweek when thrashing Southampton, we’re struggling to get away from Spurs to win here at 1.73. Watford currently sit in 10th position in the league but their recent performances have been a long way off the level they showed to score three goals against the likes of United – and with Spurs banging in the goals for fun lately, we just feel that the 1.73 on the Spurs win is too big to ignore.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace
4pm It took Arsenal until five minutes to go to find a winner against West Brom and with Big Sam taking over at Palace, they will be made work hard for the win here too. The effort that the Palace players put in off the ball against Watford was notable compared to life under Pardew and there’s no doubt that many people will see a shade of value in Palace at 11.0 here. Before West Brom made Arsenal work hard for the win, they had lost their previous two and as is always the way it seems around Christmas, the wheels have started to fall off Arsenal’s title challenge. We see no value in the Arsenal win at 1.35 and we’re going to take a chance on Palace on the handicap +1.5 goals at 2.0 in the hope that Big Sam can sort out their problems at the back.
