Premier League Target June Return: All 20 Premier League clubs will hold a conference call this Friday with the aim to return in June. A lot of issues have been up in the air for previous meetings, however this time they meet with the knowledge that they have government backing to return as soon as possible – when it is safe to do so.
Any moves from the Premier League will have to be “consistent with public health guidance.” However, the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Secretary Oliver Dowden said in the House of Commons: “I personally have been in talks with the Premier League, with a view to getting football up and running as soon as possible.”
It is clear that when the Premier League does return, it will do so behind closed doors for the foreseeable future. It seems certain that the season will finish behind closed doors, and that a decision will have to be made before next season starts as what happens then.
What also seems certain, is that the Premier League season will finish. The Premier League has been very clear on that, and unlike Holland it is very unlikely the season will be voided. That will be very good news for every Liverpool fan who have waited so long to see their side lift the Premier League title.
Premier League clubs will need to meet strict social distancing guidelines when training and on matchdays, but it now looks more likely than not that we will see Premier League football return in June.
