We’re sure that “who will stop Chelsea?” was a discussion around many Christmas dinner tables this year and maybe Spurs can be the ones to do it. The match odds at the time of writing currently stand at Spurs 2.78, Chelsea 2.88 and the draw 3.35.
Spurs are currently unbeaten at home in the league this season, with seven wins from their nine games – they’ve also been banging in the goals lately, netting 13 goals in their last four matches with smooth 4-1 wins over Watford and Southampton in their last two. Chelsea also have been scoring for fun over the Christmas period with a 3-0 win from Bournemouth on Boxing Day followed by a 4-2 win over Stoke on New Years Eve. So maybe there’ll be plenty of goals in this one, with over 2.5 currently trading 2.06.
It’s hard to fully commit to backing goals though, as we could see a pretty cagey start as both teams look to “not lose” rather than win – and who could blame them in such a big derby. Chelsea also have had an incredible record at the back on this winning run, and looking at their six away games on the run – they’ve only conceded once.
The Chelsea winning run has to come to and end at some point, and they really face a tough test to go to Spurs and win, however at odds of 2.88 – we feel that price is just too big not to back given the way they have been playing. They have been superb at the back, dangerous going forward, and can win their 14th game in a row here.
