PURPLE PATCH: In the build up to England’s Euro 2020 Semi-Final clash with Denmark this evening, we look at Gareth Southgate’s reign as Three Lions boss.

As Gareth Southgate prepares to lead out his England side for their Euro 2020 semi-final with Denmark on Wednesday, at BETDAQ we have taken a look back at the Englishman’s record since he took over the national job and it makes pretty pleasant reading…

Since taking over in late 2016, the 50-year-old has pieced together a method which has served him well as the results show.

He’s managed England 59 times so far and has masterminded 40 wins in those matches for a 68% win rate.

His side have drawn on nine other occasions and impressively only lost 10 times.

Southgate is known for his pragmatic approach, with a sturdy defence an important part of his methodology, but his side have still scored 129 goals since he began the role – an average of over two goals per game.

Given his pragmatic approach, it’s unsurprising that his England team have conceded less than a goal a game in his time in charge, with the Three Lions shipping just 46 goals under Southgate.

He of course led England to a World Cup semi-final in 2018 and with them just two victories away from Euros glory, Southgate is close to etching his name among his country’s greatest ever managers.
