PURPLE PATCH: Italy begin their Euro 2020 campaign tonight on the back of a fantastic run of form, which we analyse below.
Much of the talk in the build-up to this summer’s Euros has been about France and England – the two sides who head the outright betting.
However, one nation have been going quietly about their business in recent years and come into the tournament in arguably better form than anyone else.
Since October 2018, Italy have gone on an impressive run of 27 matches without defeat.
They have won 22 of those 27 international games, drawing the other five, with their success being orchestrated by both a potent attack and rock-solid defence.
During their unbeaten sequence they have scored the small matter of 75 goals – an average of just under three goals a game – while conceding just seven goals.
It’s unsurprising, then, that they have kept 20 clean sheets in the nearly three-year spell, including in all of their last eight matches.
Manager Roberto Mancini has certainly got his side back to their best and at 9.4 with BETDAQ, looks a very tempting price indeed.
