PURPLE PATCH: Ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Man United at Old Trafford, we look at the key stats around arguably the best player in the world right now, Mo Salah
Why the Egyptian is King of the Premier League at the moment
Liverpool could not be in better form and much of that is down to the brilliance of their ‘Egyptian King’, Mohamed Salah.
Salah has scored 12 times in as many starts this season, contributing a remarkable 33% of Liverpool’s total goals so far.
It’s no surprise Salah leads the race for the Premier League golden boot with seven goals, the last of those coming in a 5-0 win against Watford, where his strike meant he drew level with Didier Drogba as the all-time leading African goal scorer in the Premier League.
That was his 104 Premier League goal, leaving him 28th on the all-time scorers list, and as the leading Premier League shot taker this season with 33, he should soon add more to that tally.
Liverpool’s current 21 game unbeaten run, which extends back to April 6th, 2021, when they lost their last competitive match to Real Madrid in the Champions League, shows no signs of coming to an end and with Salah in such irresistible form it may continue for some time yet.
