It’s been a wild three days at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, with birdies and low numbers galore. The stage is set for a compelling Sunday, as 17 men are within five shots of the lead.

Rickie Fowler, who we recommended in our pre-tournament write-up at 11.5, is just one back of the lead and is now trading at 3.55 at BETDAQ, making him the overnight favorite. If you’re feeling bold on this Sunday, though, there are several interesting long-odds plays: Bill Haas, for instance, is only three back and can be had at 22.0, while young Korean Whee Kim is just two back and is trading at 28.0. The course has surrendered some really low numbers this week, most notably Troy Merritt’s 61 yesterday, so anyone within shouting distance of the lead has a legitimate chance.

BETDAQ is offering final round 2-ball markets, of course, and there are a few matchups that look quite interesting. Here are some suggestions:

John Peterson (2.5) vs. Justin Thomas (1.67)

Both of these youngsters currently sit at 8-under, and though Thomas has played a little bit better this season I’m not sure if he should be such a substantial favorite in this circumstance. After all, it’s not like he’s been playing his best golf over the past few weeks, chalking up just one top-50 finish in his last five events. Peterson hasn’t been great either but he’s generally pretty good on a Sunday, breaking par in 5 of his past 6 final rounds. That, and the generous price, is enough to convince me. Recommendation: Peterson at 2.5

Ollie Schniederjans (2.24) vs. Danny Lee (1.8)

Schniederjans is just the latest young player to come out of the amateur ranks and experience immediate success, and he’s done it this week with his putter, as he leads the field in putting through three rounds. While that’s certainly praiseworthy, it also means that his ball-striking has most likely been less than perfect, and indeed Schniederjans has struggled a bit with accuracy off the tee. Lee has played the best golf of his career over the past few weeks and I like his chances here. Recommendation: Lee at 1.8

Ryo Ishikawa (2.24) vs. Steven Bowditch (1.8)

Based on what we’ve seen out of these guys over the past couple of months, this looks like a total mismatch. Ishikawa has missed four of his last nine cuts and has zero top-20 finishes in that stretch, while Bowditch has been on a tear, recording a win and three other top-30 finishes in his last seven starts. They’ve both played well this week, obviously, but I think I’ll take my chances with the guy who’s on a roll. Recommendation: Bowditch at 1.8

Carl Pettersson (2.5) vs. David Lingmerth (1.67)

Pettersson’s been playing better than people realize lately, logging two top-15 finishes in his last four events and shooting par or better in 17 of his past 18 competitive rounds. Lingmerth has been playing well too, but I think Pettersson’s a great value at the current price. Recommendation: Pettersson at 2.5
