POWER OUTAGE: Annie Power will miss the Champion Hurdle and the chance to defend her Champion Hurdle crown.
The big news today is all about Cheltenham and the fact that Annie Power will miss the Cheltenham Festival after picking up a leg injury.
The news was announced by trainer Willie Mullins this morning.
She became the first mare in 22 years to win the Champion Hurdle last season and her defection leaves stable companion Faugheen as the warm favourite for the day one highlight.
A busy eight race card at Fairyhouse this afternoon with plenty of runners for punters to sort out.
My best bet is Mystic Theatre in the closing mares bumper.
Trained by Willie Mullins, she has looked impressive in the point to point sphere and this looks the ideal opening opportunity under Rules.
Mag Brady made a satisfactory debut when third in desperate ground on her bumper debut at Limerick and probably rates the danger – although this looks a tougher challenge.
