SHAMROCK TWO OUT OF TWO: SHAMROCK’s NAP and NEXT BEST both won at Thurles yesterday making it two winners from the two bets. The NAP was LONE STAR WON 6/4 – by nine lengths!!
Eight races at Dundalk on Friday night with the feature race very much being the Mercury Stakes (Listed) at 8.10 over five furlongs.
No individual trainer has dominated this race over the years and I feel the pick of this year’s seven runners could be Abstraction.
The four-year-old is a previous winner here at Dundalk which is always a big factor and has had a short break since finishing a close second to Sir Maximilian, who challenges again today, at Tipperary.
That race is the key form pointer to this race as the third, Russian Soul, also runs tonight.
With Abstraction being three pounds better off with Sir Maximilian he gets the narrow vote.
A huge field goes to post for the opening maiden and I am keen on the chances of Sirikoi who made a pleasing debut at Fairyhouse and Tommy Stack’s filly clearly looks capable of further improvement.
