NOTHING LOST BUT NOTHING GAINED: SHAMROCK’s NAP on Thursday was a non runner. He heads to Cork for tonight’s best bet.
Two Irish cards tonight at Cork and Downpatrick catering for flat and jumps fans alike.
Gone To Russia went into my notebook on debut when finishing second to Roly Poly at Naas and I’m taking the David Wachman trained filly to go one better in the opener on the Cork card.
I’m having to dodge the debutants, as pretty much is always the case at this stage of the season in these events, but Gone To Russia sets the bar quite highly. She was only pipped a short head on debut and if the photo had gone the other way she’d of course now be racing under a penalty.
On that form she should again hold Blue Bahia who was third but had already had the benefit of a previous start.
I can’t see anything else amongst the ones to have run so fingers crossed Gone To Russia can improve and there’s nothing well above average amongst the debutants to spoil things for the nap.
