IRISH DERBY WEEKEND STARTS HERE: SHAMROCK looks ahead to Friday’s opening card of the Irish Derby weekend at the Curragh.
Pious Alexander landed the nap yesterday at 8/13 to set up a hat-trick bid of naps at the Curragh tonight.
The Irish Derby meeting gets underway at 5.45pm with the big race tomorrow.
The seven race card starts with two maidens and in the second of them at 6.15pm I want to be against the Dermot Weld trained Aasheq who was a beaten odds-on favourite at Limerick last time out and this looks a much hotter contest.
Aasheq has been a friend of the layers so far with defeats at 8/15, 4/6, 8/11 and 11/10 in his four career starts.
The Weld stable aren’t firing on all cylinders at the moment but I’m sure that will all turn around in time for Galway !!
We don’t have much form to go on but I like the look of Casla who ran a good race on debut at Leopardstown when fourth and on that form holds Bowden who was better fancied that day but a further length and three quarters back in fifth.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Casla (5.45 Curragh)
