CURRAGH AND CLONMEL: Two evening cards in Ireland tonight with flat and jumps fans catered for equally. SHAMROCK looks at the Group 3 TRM Ballyogan Stakes at 7.45pm.
A seven strong field go to post for the feature TRM Ballyogan Stakes – a Group 3 over six furlongs – at the Curragh tonight.
The race has thrown up 16/1 and 12/1 winners in the past two seasons and tonight’s favourite is the English raider One Master who is lightly raced and still capable of improvement. She won a Listed race at Ascot last season and was fourth in a Group 3 over seven furlongs on her seasonal reappearance at Lingfield last month,
She obviously has a sound chance but looks a little skinny in the market for my liking and I prefer to take a chance with the home trained Actress who is a class dropper for Aidan O’Brien.
She gets the fast ground she does so well on tonight and will find this easier than Haydock last time out when she finished fifth in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes.
Both her career wins have come here at the Curragh, including over this trip in a Group 3 on good to firm ground and gets the perfect combination of conditions again here.
