WE’RE BACK: Irish racing returns after a quiet week with racing from Dundalk tonight. SHAMROCK bids to make it 5 from 6 winning naps in 2014.
Dundalk gets the racing show back on the road this week with a seven race card starting at 6.15pm.
Hopefully we can keep the nice run of naps going in 2014:
1 Jan LIEUTENANT COLONEL (NAP) WON EVENS
2 Jan NO BET
3 Jan THE FIRM (NAP) WON 8/15
4 Jan WICKLOW BRAVE (NAP) WON 2/5
5 Jan MOONLIGHT BOY (NAP) PULLED UP
6 Jan URANO (NAP) WON 10/11
It’s always with a degree of trepidation that I’d want to oppose an Aidan O’Brien trained runner but Lone Star showed so little on debut at the Curragh last season that it’s really hard to make a case for him – even in a weak maiden such as this. If you do side with the Sea The Stars colt – you are really guessing that he will improve significantly for the second run and the first over Polytrack.
Coupled with that, Not Your Call brings some reasonable, if not spectacular, course form to the table and has to be the choice.
He is stepped up to a mile for the first time and last time out in December was fourth to American Hope over six furlongs.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
