LAY NAP LANDED IN STYLE: Fortune favours the brave and SHAMROCK took on a Willie Mullins / Ruby Walsh ODDS ON favourite yesterday with his LAY NAP Urano who only beat one horse home and was unplaced at 5/6.
Might have to try that more often! Putting up a lay as the nap which worked in grand style with Urano yesterday who continues to be a layers dream.
Back to the win bets tonight though for me at Dundalk.
The Hotels Unite For Tourism Race at 7.45 has only attracted four runners and should be a straight fight out between Maontri and Akasaka and I think on value ground there are good reasons to be taking on the odds on favourite.
Maontri has been a revelation this season and she is on to the four-timer tonight but has shot up in the weights.
She races off a mark of 98 tonight – on her final start of 2013 she was racing off 58, That’s what you call a hike up the ladder !!
It’s deserved though and she certainly showed no signs of the run coming to an end last time out when breaking well and staying on well close home to win a handicap by 3 1/4 lengths.
She’s up another stone in the weights tonight though and it may well start to show. Akasaka is a solid rival who also runs this track well and I think they should be a lot closer in the market.
