AFTER LANDING A 7/2 WINNING NAP FROM HIS FIRST TIP OF THE WEEK ON WEDNESDAY: SHAMROCK’s NAP Drive Time was headed on the line at Thurles yesterday. He heads to Dundalk tonight.
We just missed out on the NAP yesterday with Drive Time.
Unfortunately pipped on the post and beaten a nose.
The frustrating comment in running was:
DRIVE TIME: (Thurles) Attempted to make all, not fluent 4 out, strongly pressed and joined from before last where not fluent, kept on well run-in, headed on line
The Listed Mercury Stakes is the highlight on the card at Dundalk tonight at 8.15pm.
It’s a race in which English raiders have fared well in over the years and there’s a serious challenger this year from Charles Hills stable in Angels Will Fall.
She was in Ireland for her last start too, finishing a three quarter of a length second to Balmont Mast in a Listed race at the Curragh. (Co-incidentally Balmont Mast actually won this race last year).
Against her is the fact that she has never tackled Polytack before in her career.
It’s unlikely though that is thought to be any concern, given she’s made the journey over again and the step back in trip to five furlongs will also be in her favour. This is also her final start before heading to stud so connections will presumably be looking to bow out with a winning run.
