Happy Birthday Joseph O’Brien !!! 21 today which is hard to believe in itself given the remarkable achievement he has already achieved in the saddle.
Let’s hope his fellow jockeys recognise the occasion in the appropriate style. Champers, cake and a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday Joseph – we don’t want another Yaya Touré on our hands.
It’s business as normal for the birthday boy with four booked rides at Cork this evening and certainly not the gift of a winner, birthday or not.
His best chance may lie with Just Gorgeous in the finale. It’s one of two runners that father Aidan sends to Cork this evening.
Although a beaten favourite, Just Gorgeous shaped OK on debut in mid-division on debut at Naas nine days ago and it certainly wouldn’t be a big shock to see her improve considerably from that effort.
The dangers may well lie with the debutants. There has been plenty of early interest in the Dermot Weld trained Silwana, a daughter of Peintre Celebre, but I am expecting many happy returns from Just Gorgeous.
