9/2 WINNER: SHAMROCK named 9/2 winner Housesofparliament as one of his two best bets on Thursday.
One winner from two bets on Thursday – it was Housesofparliament at a rewarding 9/2 in the opening Bahrain Trophy at Newmarket.
His trainer Aidan O’Brien has two runners at Newmarket today. Roly Poly won a Group 3 at the Curragh last time out but previously had her limitations exposed at today’s Group 2 level at Royal Ascot when only eight in the Queen Mary. The better ground may suit her better but she might prove vulnerable to some of the lighter raced fillies who could still be improving rapidly.
O’Brien’s other runner today is Alice Springs in the featured Falmouth Stakes at 4.15pm. She was an excellent third at Royal Ascot to Qemah in the Coronation Stakes but three-year-olds don’t have a great record here and Usherette looks set to take a lot of beating.
They race at Cork (jumps) and Navan (flat) tonight.
Best bet is Dermot Weld’s Look Closer in the 8.10 at Navan. He looked useful on debut at Leopardstown and the very testing ground may well have been against him on his second start.
