SHAMROCK LOOKS AT SANDOWN, KILBEGGAN and DUNDALK on Friday: His nap runs later on at Dundalk.
SANDOWN: Irish interest at Sandown Park this afternoon with the Aidan O’Brien trained Cape Clear Island having strong claims in the Classic Trial at 3.00.
The defection of the French trained Grey Lion has left a field of just four runners and a tactical affair will no doubt ensue.
Cape Clear Island has plenty to find with favourite Commemorative on official ratings (a full 20lb) but does hold a fitness edge on that rival having won at Newmarket last week – all be it by a narrow margin in something of a bunch finish.
KILBEGGAN: The Follow Kilbeggan On Twitter Maiden Hurdle at 5.45 looks one of the weakest races I’ve seen in a long time and surely will not take much winning? In the context of the race, Mystic Princess looks a solid bet having finished second in Downpatrick maiden hurdle in March but confidence is tempered given she unseated her rider at the first flight on her return to the track last time out!
DUNDALK: The Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Race at 7.35 looks very interesting with some nice future prospects. None more so than the David Wachman trained Queen Nefertiti who was very impressive when making a winning debut at Leopardstown last season and she’s entered up in all the top races this season.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Queen Nefertiti (7.35 Dundalk)
