It could easily be a good day for Irish trained runners on day four with strong chances in the opening two races and also the closing Queen’s Vase run over two miles.

Aidan O’Brien’s Cuff is his main hope in the opening Albany Stakes over six furlongs. She stayed on well to win a Listed race over this trip at Naas and is clearly still improving but there are a whole host of potential improvers here including seven unbeaten fillies so I think Cuff, on balance, looks a little short in the market and I’ll risk a lay.

In the King Edward VII Stakes Lustrous Light is interesting for Ger Lyons. He did me a favour when winning at Navan where he gave the impression he was crying out for today’s trip.

Beacon Rock won a Group 3 at the Curragh on soft ground so should relish today’s conditions and he looks the more solid bet.

But for the nap I’m saving the best until last with Ebediyin in the Queen’s Vase. He is bred to stay this trip and looks very much a project horse for this race for Dermot Weld. He travelled really well to win at Naas last time out and can see out the extra trip.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Ebediyin (5.35 Royal Ascot)
LAY: Cuff (2.30 Royal Ascot)
