NEXT BEST WINS 4/1: SHAMROCK landed his next best with Nearly Nama’d WON 4/1 in the featured Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse yesterday – one of just two bets advised on the day.
Pleasing winner yesterday with Nearly Nama’d in the Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase at Fairyhouse.
He coped well with both the step up in class and extra weight to win in grand style and repeat his course and distance win from November. The key though, for me, was his jumping which was much improved.
Winning trainer Sandra Hughes also saddled Guitar Pete who finished third and said of the winner after the race: “That was great. The horse is improving. The trip was right, he’s a great jumper and he loves that ground. He’s a lot stronger than last year and Barry said he noticed a big difference in him from the last time he rode him. He needs that soft ground. He wasn’t handling the ground in the summer so we let him off.”
Not so good news with the nap, Swamp Fox, who was well supported in the opener but headed at the last and could only finish second to Tocororo who was one of three Gordon Elliott trained winners on the card.
Irish racing resumes on Thursday this week at Thurles.
