SHAMROCK’S 5/1 WINNING NAP: SHAMROCK started St Patrick’s Day celebrations early with a fantastic 5/1 WINNING NAP at Limerick on Sunday.
I’ll be the first to admit I got lucky yesterday.
The nap, Caoimhe’s Delight, looked held in the Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase but calamity struck Baby Shine who fell at the last when a length clear and left the door open for Caoimhe’s Delight who landed my NAP at a fantastic 5/1.
At the end of a week when my four Cheltenham NAPS blew out – that was a most welcome turn of fortune.
Happy St Patrick’s Day !!!
The Daily Mirror Chase at Down Royal this afternoon looks a cracker but I’m not sure I can find a bet as I’ve narrowed the six strong field down to four ! It’s a designated Grand National trial and generally not a medium I like to punt on so close to the ‘main event’.
The official ratings tell us Seabass is the best horse in the race. Now an 11-year-old, he is bidding for a third crack at the Crabbie’s Grand National having been placed third in 2012 and 13th last year.
You can argue a case for all three of the Gigginstown runners and on balance Toner D’Oudairies gets the nod.
A winning nap on St Patrick’s Day wouldn’t only be welcome, it’s DEMANDED. So how about Shutter Island in the opener? He was second to Kitten Rock at Navan last time and the winner followed up easily yesterday. On balance he he preferred to Ashjar – the Willie Mullins trained favourite. You can tell I’ve got a spring in my step after the 5/1 NAP – I’m taking on Willie Mullins!
