LORD ADARE LANDS NAP: SHAMROCK landed a short priced winning NAP yesterday with LORD ADARE (WON 2/5) but only just ! He heads back to the flat for the Listed race at Naas this evening.
LORD ADARE scrambled home at Limerick yesterday to land the NAP at 2/5. What kind of a price is that I hear you cry…. but in fairness he was around 1.85 in the morning when selected on BETDAQ and if he had been the same price then, as the SP return, ie: 1.4, there’s no way I would have napped him.
Two lessons – prices are better on BETDAQ generally – but I guess you know that already and early birds can catch the worms. Generally, I prefer to bet late, as you more liquidity in the markets and they represent a truer reflection of the race but you do get cases, like yesterday, of one horse being backed to the exclusion of everything else in the race.
In the end he had to work very hard to beat 25/1 outsider Keppols Queen by just half a length.
It will be jumps racing all the way for the rest of this week with Punchestown but for tonight it’s back to the flat for the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Naas (6.55).
I’m not sure I like the two market leaders here. Maarek won this last year but was disappointing at Cork on seasonal reappearance for his new trainer Evanna McCutcheon and at the other end of the weights Guerre may be going to post with 2lb overweight. Guerre is from the Aidan O’Brien stable and I am continuing to oppose their runners, almost blind, at the moment given the poor form. His runner in the Listed race at Gowran Park yesterday ran a shocker.
We could do with some betting ammo to start a busy week so will try a NAP on An Saighdiur who romped home in the Listed race at Cork in which Scream Blue Murder was second and Maarek was unplaced.
Just why An Saighdiur is as big as 10 on BETDAQ for this race I just can’t begin to comprehend.
