BIG FIELDS THE ORDER OF THE DAY AT THE CURRAGH: SHAMROCK’s NAP runs in the fillies maiden at 3.45.
Big fields are very much the order of the day at the Curragh this afternoon – the card gets underway at 1.45pm with a 25 runner maiden over seven furlongs!
Jim Bolger may land the later fillies maiden on the card with Alyssum who belied odds of 25/1 on debut to run a cracker at Naas to finish second to Etched.
The form for that race hasn’t worked out especially well with the winner well beaten at Goodwood next time out but there was plenty to like about Alyssum’s performance, especially the way she was staying on strongly at the end of the seven furlongs so it’s no surprise to see Bolger step her up to 1m 1f today.
The ones that have run haven’t shown too much so far and the barometer in the race is the Aidan O’Brien trained Eavesdrop who has by far the most experience with eight runs. However, this actually looks a little tougher than some of the maidens she has been beaten in so I would be surprised if she gets her head in front today.
