THE NEW JUMPS SEASON STARTS AT KILBEGGAN: No rest for the wicked! The jumps season which ended on Saturday starts afresh at Kilbeggan for the their evening meeting starting at 5pm.
Defending champion Willie Mullins starts the new campaign with Stay Humble in the bumper at 8pm and he should make it third time lucky, although he will again go off at prohibitive odds and has been beaten twice at odds on.
Best bet on the card for me comes in the 7pm with the Henry de Bromhead trained Gangster who is partnered by Rachael Blackmore.
He may well have needed the race at Leopardstown when fourth to Jezki over hurdles after a lengthy break but should find life much easier in this company. He’s been mixing it in much deeper water including when third to Yorkhill in a novice chase at Leopardstown back in January 2017.
He’s a Grade 3 winner over the smaller obstacles and could easily pick up a few early season prizes en route to better class races later on. He has also proved popular in the early BETDAQ exchanges on the race.
