LEOPARDSTOWN NAP: SHAMROCK’s Leopardstown NAP on Monday runs in the opening maiden hurdle at 1.30pm.

By the standards of the course, the opening maiden hurdle for mares at Leopardstown this afternoon doesn’t look as though it will take much winning.

I’m therefore going to give a final chance to Whatucallher to lose her maiden tag. She’s certainly consistent – as the string of placed efforts next to her name will testify but so far, at least, she has found winning beyond her.

She’s run some very solid races in defeat though and a reproduction of her Punchestown third last time out ought to be good enough.

The Joseph O’Brien trained Alighting ran better at Clonmel last time out but she is another long term maiden who so far hasn’t found the drop in grade fruitful.

A bigger danger may come from the Davy Russell ridden Kilbarry Lilly whose Clonmel fourth doesn’t read too bad in a race like this.
