LIMERICK NOTES: SHAMROCK looks back on the Limerick card on Sunday. Irish racing resumes on Tuesday at Wexford and Down Royal.
Keppols Queen made all the running to win the Grade 3 Kerry Group EBF Shannon Spray Mares Novice Hurdle at Limerick yesterday.
It was ultimately a disappointing effort from my nap Lyrical Theatre who never posed a serious danger despite going off at cramped odds.
Winning jockey Robbie Power said after the race: “The drop back to two miles was not ideal, but I made it a test of stamina. She jumped super and has been improving all year. She needs that soft ground.”
There was better news for Willie Mullins when Vroum Vroum Mag romped to success in the Grade Two Irish Stallion Farms EBF Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase.
She is now unbeaten in four starts over fences and never looked in trouble under Ruby Walsh who said after the race: “She jumped super. It wasn’t the plan to be in front going up the back but she was travelling so well. I thought Our Katie was the danger but our jumping put her under pressure.”
Mullins will now consider the Ryanair Gold Cup at Fairyhouse for the talented six-year-old, or she could be saved for the Punchestown Festival.
