THREE WINNERS OUT OF FIVE ON SUNDAY: SHAMROCK had a great day at the Curragh with three winners from his five picks including the NAP and NEXT BEST.
A pleasing set of results at the Curragh on Sunday:
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
2.30 Ribbons WON 3/1
3.05 Moviesta (lost)
3.40 Tanaza (lost)
4.15 Air Force Blue (NAP) WON 10/11
4.50 Order Of St George (NEXT BEST) WON 5/4
It now means THREE from the LAST FOUR naps have won (as below). I’m catching up with DAQMAN – good luck to him today as he bids for his FIFTH NAP IN A ROW !!!
SHAMROCK’S CURRENT NAPS:
Thu: Our Max (NAP) WON 100/30
Fri: Anania (NAP) lost
Sat: Golden Horn (NAP) WON 5/4
Sun: Air Force Blue (NAP) WON 10/11
There’s no nap today though as sadly Listowel has been called off due to a waterlogged track.
It was touch and go whether Sunday’s meeting went ahead – it did in the end but following another check this morning, the course is now unraceable, with officials keeping a close eye on conditions as racing is scheduled every day until Saturday.
Horse Racing Ireland tweeted: “Listowel cancelled today, track currently waterlogged. The situation is being monitored with regard to Tuesday’s fixture.”
At the Curragh on Sunday there was an emphatic 11 length success for Order Of St George but sadness too with the demise of the grand warrior Brown Panther who was pulled up around halfway with what transpired to be a shattered hind leg. Commiserations to Michael Owen and the connections of the stayer who won 11 of his 28 starts.
Air Force Blue gave Aidan O’Brien another other Group 1 on the day in the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes. It was an impressive display and the winner is 4/1 clear favourite with Ladbrokes for next seasons QIPCO 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.
On what turned out to be a fantastic day for O’Brien, he also won the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes but with Minding who overturned her better fancied stablemate Ballydoyle.
