NEXT BEST WINS 11/4: SHAMROCK had one winner from three bets on Sunday – Mckinley (NEXT BEST) WON 11/4.
No Irish racing today and it was a day of mixed fortunes for me at Navan yesterday.
I was pleased to see the next best Mckinley win at 11/4 but it got tougher after that.
I was wrong to oppose Zaidpour (DAQMAN’s BANKER NAP) in the Lismullen Hurdle. For all his win was workmanlike, equally he never really looked in trouble at any stage for the race and that will certainly have blown the cobwebs away on seasonal reappearance.
Willie Mullins said after the race: “It was straightforward and the conditions of the race suited. I thought the ground was probably still too good for him and Ruby said he felt it a bit. We’ll motor on and the Hatton’s Grace (Fairyhouse, November 30) looks the obvious thing to do now, I suppose.”
I was thwarted again by Willie Mullins in the Fortria Chase when my nap Days Hotel was no match for Twinlight who completed a hat-trick on the card for the maestro trainer who said after the race: “That was a nice surprise as I thought the ground might be a bit too dry. Ruby gave him a super ride and kept filling him up with air. He jumped great. The Hilly Way at Cork looks the next place.”
