NAVAN GRADED ACTION: Great start to the week with a Navan card featuring the Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase which was due to be run at Cork yesterday.
The nap, Our Duke, finished second, beaten half a length, in the closing bumper at Navan yesterday.
Full credit this morning must go to Horse Racing Ireland who moved swiftly to restage the Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase which was originally scheduled to be run at Cork yesterday but that card was abandoned due to flooding.
There is now an eight race card at Navan this afternoon (or to be strictly accurate this morning as the first race is 11.30am!) which includes the Hilly Way Chase.
12:35 Kerry Group Hilly Way Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+, Class 1, 2m 1f, 5 runners)
Just the five runners but it includes the last three previous winners of the race. Felix Yonger (2014), Twinlight (2013) and Days Hotel (2012).
Bright New Dawn and Felix Yonger were second and third respectively in the Clonmel Oil Chase last time out but there must be every chance that form will be turned around this afternoon as Felix Yonger looked in need of the race at Clonmel.
Hidden Cyclone unseated his rider last time out in the John Durkan Memorial but is more than capable of winning at this level as he proved when winning the Fortria Chase here last month. His jumping can still be alarming but he looks the biggest danger.
