WATCH FOR IRISH GAMBLES ON DAY OF DARK HORSES: Shamrock spots three dark horses at Kilbeggan tonight, one at 11.5 on Betdaq this morning. Another one, which was trading at 10.5, has been sent to York to win first time out. The nap of the day is at Wexford.

YORK: David Wachman has had a massive £20,000 ‘bet’ on today’s Nunthorpe in that his owners – Tabor, Smith, Magnier, who else can afford it – have supplemented Requinto for the Nunthorpe, paying out the 20 ‘grand’ to the Baron Hard-ups of England.

Requinto (3.40) scorched home at Goodwood in a race in which another juvenile Nunthorpe winner, Kingsgate Native, could only finish second in his year. They meet each other today, along with such as Inxile who seems to be able to win only when he comes over to Ireland!

Athens (4.15) at 10.5 on Betdaq is the market pick of Aidan O’Brien’s newcomers over Crusade in the Convivial Maiden (4.15), and Ballydoyle has a big chance with Reply (2.30) in the Gimcrack, at the revised weights with Lilbourne Lad.

WEXFORD: Jim Bolger has the two-year-old nap of the day in his Teofilo filly Criostal (4.45), a double-your-money price at Betdaq offers this morning on her way to the Moyglare.

KILBEGGAN: Just 10 minutes earlier, another one with a future – this time over hurdles – is a big offer at 11.5 at time of writing. Moonlight Dancer (4.35) hails from Jessica Harrington’s in-form yard: she is striking at just short of 50%, win and place.

I hear that Noel Glynn thinks he has a nice sort in Here’s Jenny (8.10), up for the bumper tonight: a weak one the mare could easily win first time up.

Flamingos Gold (5.35) has obtained a tidy looking handicap mark for Robert Murphy, and he’s booked Davy Russell to do the business.
