FRIDAY NIGHT: Is Dundalk night. The all-weather venue stage an eight racecard and as per normal the field sizes are high.
The 6.30 at Dundalk looks interesting tonight. I can’t see That’s Plenty finishing out of the frame so my strategy will be to back it in both the win and place markets. The two-year-old will be short in the place market but I suggest putting enough on to cover the win stake so we end up with a free bet if he is placed and a double collect on the win and the place if he wins – which he easily could.
He showed a great deal of promise on his racecourse debut at Cork in August finishing fourth to Wrote. The form of that race received a massive boost when Wrote went on to win at Galway before running well in the Group 3 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket when third to Daddy Long Legs.
Wrote is trained by Aidan O’Brien who introduces a newcomer in tonight’s race in the shape of After The Storm who is well bred and clearly could be anything. He is the sole reason I am adapting the win and place strategy on That’s Plenty who I think sets a very high standard in the context of the race. Just in case the O’Brien horse is something special we still get a chance at a free bet on That’s Plenty.
In the final race at 9.25 surely the door will open at last for Livia’s Wake who has a series of creditable placed efforts to her name most notably a close second at Killarney last time out. This is a modest bunch and she should be a maiden no longer.
