DOUBLE WHAMMY BID AT DUNDALK! Shamrock lays the favourite in the opener at Dundalk and reckons Gary Carroll can come good for the nap and a core each-way handicap pick at 8.8.
He’s in his element. Gary Carroll, one of three who tied for the Irish apprentice title, has six booked rides today, with which to land his first winner of 2012.
And it’s Core Element (7.50 Dundalk) that looks a corker at 8.8. The CD winner is twice the animal when fresh.
I can’t take the odds about Susiescot (5.50), with the McCreery stable badly out of form (no wins in 11 weeks).
Tawariyka looks a better bet, with experience of the surface. Yes, it’s Gary Carroll again, no doubt delighted to ride for the Aga Khan, and with trainer Mick Halford already off the mark for the year.
The Buggy-Carroll partnership is two out of four in races like this at Dundalk and, Carroll, who has had a lean spell lately, has another big chance to break back.
Bramante (8.20) seems to improve as he’s stepped up in trip and, despite top weight, can lord it over these. There’s some rubbish down the handicap here and he’s just struck form on the surface.
