FRIDAY NIGHT AT DUNDALK: An eight race card on the all-weather starting at 5.50. Shamrock’s NAP runs in the 6.20.
Slightly disappointing yesterday to get the odds-on favourite beaten but not by the NAP who could only finish third.
The show moves back to the all-weather on Friday and Exhortation should be able to make it third time lucky in the 6.20. The Dermot Weld trained colt showed promise on his racecourse debut at Leopardstown in September when third to Akeed Mofeed and Athens and then was second to Suehail here over seven furlongs at the end of March.
He steps back in distance tonight which is the key point and the blinkers which he wore last time are kept on.
Wasabi’s House is the obvious danger after three good runs here but Exhortation may just have the greater scope.
I’m struggling to see how Fairy Wing cannot be placed in the 7.20 and the current 1.9 on the BETDAQ place market is making plenty of appeal for a top three finish.
He goes particularly well here at Dundalk and this is a weak contest. He was also far from disgraced with a fifth at Leopardstown last time out.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Exhortation (6.20 Dundalk)
PLACE NAP: Fairy Wing (7.20 Dundalk)
