TESTING GROUND AT THE CURRAGH: The Irish Derby meeting gets underway this evening on ground that is soft and heavy in places. The Irish Derby is the last race on tomorrow’s card at 7.40.

As always the price dictates and in the final race on the card at the Curragh tonight I want to be against the Aidan O’Brien trained favourite Warwick Avenue.

He was a beaten favourite at Fairyhouse last time out behind Hay Point and although finishing second, that was his third attempt, and he may be vulnerable to some lighter raced opponents today.

These include Loreto who was third on her debut to Balrath Hope (winner again since). The two furlong step-up in trip should suit her ideally and we are getting nearly three times the price of the favourite on BETDAQ at the time of writing.

On a trappy card she rates the nap.

In the 6.00 Wonderful is opposed despite her recent fourth to Caponata getting a boost when Caponata won a Listed race at Naas this week. I wasn’t convinced Wonderful was suited by the testing ground that she will encounter again here.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Loreto (8.30 Curragh)
LAY: Wonderful (6.00 Curragh)
