SHAMROCK LANDS THE NAP WITH MAKE-ALL FORECAST: Shamrock, who landed a 12-1 winner on Saturday, was in no doubt where to play up his winnings yesterday, predicting an all-the-way success for Ruby Walsh and Thousand Stars (nap, WON 5-4).
The stable money’s down. Or so it seemed this morning, as John Queally’s Irish raider, Namarama, took over as market leader at Kempton (2.35).
And his mare Elyaadi (1.30) nudged into second spot in the betting behind Violin Davis for the Listed, both Namarama and Elyaadi with top jockeys booked: Timmy Murphy and ‘Slippers’ Madden.
Tongue-tied now, Namarama suggested that today’s 3m-plus was just what he wanted when third over 2m 7f at Navan in the autumn. Same for Elyaadi: the step up in trip should suit for a hurdler not far short of top class.
At 4.2 Elyaadi and 4.5 Namarama, at time of writing, I can back them stop at a winner, staking Elyaadi alone if she wins but, if lose, a suitable bet on Namarama which earns me my target profit but also covers the losing stake on Elyaadi.
I shall also cover any Shamrock good luck, in case it just happens that both horses win. What to put with them in my Daq Trio?
Well, I’m not convinced about Blindspin (2.15 Ludlow), Andrew Lee’s maiden, who has fallen twice in his last three starts but Shernaz (2.50) looks a good thing to get back on song for Jim Dreaper after a first-fence fall yesterday interrupted his hat-trick bid.
Meanwhile, at Ffos Las, ‘Shark’ Hanlon seeks better ground for Callthebigladjimmy (4.00) after the gelding’s failure to cope with testing conditions in September.
SHAMROCK’S BETS
STOP AT A WINNER: BET Elyaadi (1.30 Kempton); if lose Namarama (2.35 Kempton)
OUTSIDER: Callthebigladjimmy (4.00 Ffos Las)
DAQ TRIO: Elyaadi (1.30 Kempton); Namarama (2.35 Kempton), Shernaz (nap, 2.50 Ludlow)
