LIMERICK: Monday’s Irish action comes from Limerick and Shamrock has bets in the first and last race on the card.
I want to be against Wrekin Rock in the opener at Limerick (2.10). He caused a 25/1 shock when winning at Gowran Park on his hurdling debut. He then was outlcassed when finishing a well beaten last of nine in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in December and hasn’t been since. He was a maiden on the flat and not the sort of horse to trust with a penalty, even in a modest event like this.
Of more interest is The Four Elms who showed promise over course, distance (and ground!) when third here in December to Arnaud and on his only subsequent run wasn’t disgraced when 14th of 25 at Leopardstown.
A mares flat race concludes the card and a competitive one at that. Summer Star and Cherish The Pear finished 4th and 5th respectively when making their racecourse debuts at Punchestown and that form should be confirmed here.
SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: The Four Elms (Limerick 2.10)
NEXT BEST: Summer Star (Limerick 5.10)
