FOUR NAPS UP OUT OF FIVE: Athens (WON 4-6) continued Shamrock’s run of naps – it’s now four out of five – but he has to chance his arm in England today, with no racing in Ireland until Ballinrobe tomorrow evening.
It’s all talk and no action, she says. But Hayley Turner’s new column in the Racing Post asks: Any questions to put to Hayley?
Yes, what are you doing tonight after Konstantin wins the 5.15 at Kempton for you? Goes well fresh and gets ready at home (I’m talking about Konstantin).
Meanwhile, somebody should ‘sub’ (that means ‘edit’) Hayley’s column for her: she says that Ronnie O’Sullivan ‘goes into today’s final session of his (world-championship) second-round match with Mark Williams leading 11-5’.
It depends where you put the punctuation; in this case, there ain’t none, as England’s Lord Sugar would say. Better to have said ‘leading Mark Williams 11-5’.
I’ll still get better odds about Ronnie than for Fluctuate (5.55 Wolverhampton) – should step up on his Wood Ditton third – but I’m trying to keep my naps going until a decent earner comes up.
However, I’ll oppose the short-odds favourite, Goldstorm (6.25), in the next, taking Irish-bred Strong Vigilance to grab back the cash from the losing gamble on the course last time he ran.
What can Mark Johnston do with Wicked Spirit (7.25)? I think the filly has an interesting handicap mark, judged on her efforts at Dundalk before she moved to England.
After 20-1 SP for her last three starts in Ireland, it’s an eye-opener to see her 5.1 second favourite on BETDAQ this morning. Got to get on.
