NOW IT’S FIVE NAPS IN A ROW FOR SHAMROCK! What a glorious Galway festival for Shamrock, as he hit his fifth consecutive winning nap yesterday with Comedic Art (WON 13-8). Here’s his sequence:

19.0 GAMBLE IN TO 6-1 BUT BEATEN A NECK: Two of his outsiders were gambled on yesterday and reached the frame. One of them, Badger Or Bust, tipped at 19.0 on the Daq, came in to 6-1 and was beaten a neck.

NAAS: There’ll be a horse or two to take out of the 2.20, with a Dante winner one of Aidan O’Brien’s two successess in the last three years.

But, for Ballydoyle, it’s one of those tricky two-year-old questions: will Secretary Of State’s experience get him home or are their unexposed horses straight enough at home to lower his colours?

Secretary of State is favourite this morning but not well drawn (eight of the last 12 winners of this came from stalls 8 or lower) and both Rayadour and Angel Bright are well regarded.

Could Dermot Weld continue where he left off at Galway with the sprint-bred and Group-1 entered Angel Bright at a tasty 7.0 on Betdaq, as I write.

Another Weld newcomer, also Group entered, and also given the benefit of a low draw is Solar Verde (5.20), whose immediate market rivals this morning, Katherine Lee and Saratoga Baby, are both in high stalls.

Ted and Mark Walsh – no relation – should play up the Galway winnings on Royal Reveille (3.50), who carries my nap to stage six, knowing I’ve got a better priced one tomorrow (licks lips).

CORK: I could have napped either Ninth Legion (3.35) or Won In The Dark (4.05) at Cork, both ridden by the track’s leading rider, Davy Russell.

But I worry in the Mallow Hurdle that blinkers will return For A Finish to his old form, which would best this lot; and I’m concerned in the J P McManus Hurdle that the sponsor’s Valain will have been got up for the race and Oneeightofamile will relish the trip.

Won In The Dark has run behind the best (Quevega, for instance) but hasn’t won since his juvenile days.
