LEOPARDSTOWN: The start of a fantastic weekend of racing at Leopardstown and SHAMROCK finds the best bets on the Saturday card.

Firstly, last night. That hurt. We did the hard thing in getting the odds-on favourite beaten but my nap Atticus Finch led everywhere bar the line and was pipped on the jamstick by a short head at 3/1. Tough game at times but the naps are continuing to go well.

Leopardstown 2.15: Boylesports.com – Bet On Your Mobile Novice Chase (Grade 2) This looks very much the match the betting suggests between top and bottom on the card and I think the odds are spot on. Although Sir Des Champs is unbeaten there was a serious question unanswered at Limerick last time out as to whether he would have won if Knockfierna hadn’t ran out at the second last. Hidden Cyclone has achieved more and has only tasted defeat once himself in a Grade One novices hurdle here in 2010 and has made the transition to the larger obstables with aplomb. He gets a handy 5lb from Sir Des Champs and rates as the bet of the day.

Leopardstown 3.20: Leopardstown Handicap Chase (Grade A) As competitive as you might expect for a €75,000 race and the market has a Grand National feel to it with it being 7/1 the field in early trading on BETDAQ. Seabass continues to impress and bids for win five on the spin but the strategy here might be to play at bigger odds win and place. Montan is trading around 14 and is the sort that looks good for a place without necessarily winning (which would be the bonus). He ran well here in November when fourth over the longer three mile trip.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Hidden Cyclone (Leopardstown 2.15)
WIN AND PLACE: Montan (Leopardstown 3.20)
