SHAMROCK BIDS FOR NAPS HAT-TRICK: Clancy Avenue (WON 5/4 but 6/4 on BETDAQ) landed the nap at Dundalk on Friday.

We’re on for a naps hat-trick today following on from Speckled Wood (WON 4/6) on Thursday and Clancy Avenue (WON 5/4) who won smoothly at Dundalk last night. As ever, prices on BETDAQ significantly better.

Feature race of the day is the Red Mills Trial Hurdle (Grade 2) at Gowran Park in which Zaidpour bids to repeat his success of 12 months ago. He will be a bigger price than last year (2/9) but I’m not really tempted to back him today. He is stepping back in distance after two second places over a longer trip and there’s always a risk of that blunting some speed.

I’m not sure why Ibsen is such a big price in the opener at 2.35. He brings some solid form to the table and the hot favourite Djakadam was a costly failure last time out when unseating Ruby Walsh. Whilst he would have probably gone on and won, he was making hard work of what was only an average Thurles maiden and the two times flat winner Ibsen represents a big challenge today.

He has run two solid races at Leopardstown and the difference in price (at the time of writing) is ludicrous. Ibsen is 5.2 v 1.9 Djakadam.

He’s around 1.7 to be placed too – and I can’t see him out of the frame so I am recommending the nap on a win and place basis (equal stakes). The theory being the place element will take the sting out of the losses if he doesn’t win.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Ibsen (2.35 Gowran Park) RECOMMENDED WIN AND PLACE for EQUAL STAKES
