NAAS: All eyes turn to Naas today for a good pre-Cheltenham card featuring the Leinster National at 4.20 and an interesting novices chase.
2:45 Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase (Grade 3): Rathlin is a non-runner which effectively means we are left with a match between Bog Warrior and Flemenstar. It’s hard to look beyod Bog Warrior who still holds Cheltenham entries but this will be a very nice prize to pick up in its own right. Bog Warrior beat Flemenstar by seven and a half lengths when making all to win over two miles at Navan last season and whilst Flemenstar has gone from strength to strength since it it’s hard to see Bog Warrior’s superiority not being confirmed here, particularly as he has more proven form over this longer trip.
4:20 Woodlands Park 100 Club Leinster National Handicap Chase: This race threw up a massive shock last year when Benefit Night made all the running to win at 33/1. Top weight Roberto Goldback comes to the race on the back of a hugely creditable second to Quel Esprit in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown and might just be able to concede the weight.
