DERBY DAY DOUBLE: Shamrock stayed loyal to Team O’Brien at Epsom yesterday and was rewarded with a winning double. CAMELOT (NAP) WON 8/13 and ST NICHOLAS ABBEY (next best) WON 8/11 taking his recent run of naps to 8 winners from the last 13.

What a day and what a prospect. Camelot sauntered to a five length success in the Epsom Derby to remain unbeaten and the vintage flat season keeps getting better and better. Frankel, Camelot and don’t forget Black Caviar flies in from Oz on Wednesday to join the Royal Ascot party. Flat racing is back on a high – let’s celebrate.

Team O’Brien head to Chantilly on Sunday for the French Derby – a much more competitive affair than we saw at Epsom yesterday and their runner Imperial Monarch is one of several with oustanding claims. Imperial Monarch is unbeaten after wins at the Curragh last season and more recently at Sandown Park where Joseph O’Brien ploughed a lone furrow up the stands side to win the Classic Trial. Ploughed being the operative word as the ground was heavy that day and the form might be suspect.

Lack of experience for Imperial Monarch maybe an issue and he faces a serious home challenge in the shape of Lunayir and Kesampour. It’s a no play race for me.

I’d like to keep the naps run going and am aiming, short term, for 10 winners from the last 15 – so am looking for a safe option today !

Tasitiocht impressed on debut at Punchestown when second in a big field and the Willie Mullins trained runner should be better on the ground here at Kilbeggan and have no problems going one better.

I also like the Jessie Harrington trained One Fine Day in the opener at Listowel at 2.15. She was unfancied on debut at Navan but ran a blinder in fourth.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Tasitiocht (5.55 Kilbeggan)
NEXT BEST: One Fine Day (2.15 Listowel)
