CURRAGH GROUP ACTION: Shamrock heads to the Curragh on Sunday for their Group race action and starts by looking at the Flying Five Stakes at 3.10.

There’s a strong British challenge in the Flying Five sprint and Irish trained runners are in the minority in a race they haven’t won for a staggering 11 seasons !

The home challenge this year is led by the David Wachman trained Fire Lily who won a Group 3 here last time out but crucially that was over six furlongs and she is against some real speedballs here.

Eton Rifles is prominent in the market but has been doing much of his recent racing over six furlongs and the bet in the race might be the David Nicholls trained Inxile who won a Listed event over this trip (and testing ground) at Tipperary last time out and his proven recent form over the distance and ground might be enough to negate the step-up in class against rivals where there are distance question marks.

There are only four runners now in the Galileo European Breeders Fund Futurity Stakes at 3.45 and Flying The Flag looks best in a race that remains competitive from a betting perspective. Aidan O’Brien’s runner can build on a good debut win at Leopardstown.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Inxile (3.10 Curragh)
NEXT BEST: Flying The Flag (3.45 Curragh)
