SATURDAY NAP LANDED: Shamrock landed his Saturday nap at Down Royal when Art Of Logistics WON at 11/10 in the opener.
By that was hard work! Art Of Logistics traded at big odds during the race on BETDAQ and only just saw off big outsider Toye Native to land the opener at Down Royal yesterday and land the nap.
The good news is that he did drift a little pre-race going from odds-on to odds-against on BETDAQ.
There was good news too for Aidan O’Brien when George Vancouver won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita under a perfectly timed ride from Ryan Moore.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt hugged the inside rail throughout and came through to take the lead from fellow-European raider Dundonnell in the straight.
Overall though it wasn’t a great meeting for the European challenge and a Breeders’ Cup that hardly be described as vintage.
Excelebration could only finish fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile and Aidan O’Brien was understandably deflated by the performance after Excelebration had been so impressive in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot last month. He is now set to be retired to stud.
There’s a cracking day of racing in Ireland today flat and jumps at Leopardstown and Cork respectively.
I’ve heard good reports about Aidan O’Brien’s debutant A Star Is Born in the opener who is around 3.5 on BETDAQ at the time of writing. The trainer won this last year with Twirl who by coincidence was also drawn 17. He is a rare ‘newcomer nap’ for me.
The Cork National at 2.15 is as competitive as always and recent Tramore winner Bangonform might be worthy of win and place support.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: A Star Is Born (12.55 Leopardstown)
WIN and PLACE: Bangonform (2.15 Cork)
