Famous Name should land Meld Stakes for the third year in-a-row at 7.20 tonight and although I don’t think his BETDAQ price of 1.4 is bad value it’s too short for me to get involved in.
Grafelli looks too big at around 2.52 for the Tyros Stakes at 6.15. Jim Bolger has a great record in the race and Grafelli should complete the hat-trick.
He steps up in trip – but only marginally. His last win at the Curragh came over 6f 63 yards on testing ground where he absolutely romped home to a 6 1/2 length success in the Group 3 race.
He is proven on the ground and Lines Of Battle isn’t. Although Aidan O’Brien’s runner ran a creditable race at Royal Ascot to finish sixth to Dawn Approach in the Coventry Stakes. There’s not much between the principal pair in the betting but I’m napping Grafelli on this soft ground.
O’Brien should land the closing maiden with Buckingham Gate who ran well when third to Shelford here earlier in the month.
