NAPS DOUBLE NEEDED EARLY BETDAQ OFFERS: Shamrock landed his nap, Valbchek (WON 4-11), following Sonoran Sands (WON 5-6), but in both cases SPs were meaner than Betdaq morning offers. Today he tries two naps, one for a win and one for a place!

He’s locked in for a place. Southwell is the scene of the best race of the day, a class-3, in which Irish-bred The Lock Master (4.30) tries to extend his place sequence on the course to 13 consecutive.

He’s been second 10 times, won one and third once. Yet he’s 13.5 on Betdaq this morning and the place market gives you a chance to multiply your stake by 150%. Slightly better than those banks!

I’m opposing the Irish-bred in the 4.20 Market Rasen: Tekthelot is still a maiden and the stable has suddenly slipped right out of form, with five places but no winners from 15 attempts in the last two weeks. I fancy Favours Brave to return to form, as a CD winner who has his ground today.

Bruslini (4.40 Hereford) is flattered by the win registered in his form figures, since he was the only finisher that day at Catterick.

I want to be on dear old Earth Planet. I say that, but he isn’t that old at 10, and the CD winner should get a good ride from Harry Derham, one of the claimer finds of the season in England, riding for his uncle, Paul Nicholls.

Irish racing returns tomorrow at Leopardstown, an evening of Flat racing, for which the forecast is ‘sunny’ and Ballydoyle has 21 entries. So what’s new?
