ODDS-ON LAY LANDED: No joy from the nap or next best on Monday but the only other bet of the day came up trumps. A lay of Darroun who was a well beaten second at 4/6 in the 8.00 at Ballinrobe.
We head to Ballinrobe again on Tuesday – this time for an all-jumps card.
Jimjim Mac Cool looks a standout in the opener following an excellent effort at Limerick last time out when chasing home the odds-on Clondaw Warrior at Limerick. He was three lengths adrift but it was still a great effort on his hurdling debut and second career start. Clondaw Warrior had previously won a bumper at Cheltenham, so the form looks pretty solid, and by coincidence Clondaw Warrior runs himself in the second race on the card tonight at 6.05.
He faces just five rivals in the 6.05 and should go close to completing a five-timer. His main rivals include Flycorn who chased home Won In The Dark at Killarney but that one let the form down badly at Cork next time out.
On paper the closing flat race will take little winning. Rising Euro looks the pick of a moderate bunch.
