A day’s a long time in racing.After questioning the form of Aidan O’Brien over the weekend I’m finding it hard to resist his Reaching in the 5.45 at Roscommon this evening.
The filly has taken some time to show form after a disappointing debut effort at Dundalk but ran her best race to date last time out when second at Naas behind I’m Sheikra, beaten just a nose. Maude Adams was back in fouth and there are no obvious reasons why that one should turn the form around as she is looking quite exposed now.
Romantic Stroll is an obvious danger after several placed efforts but the suspicion is that Reaching has the more scope for improvement at this stage of her career.
I’m not sure I want to be backing the Dermot Weld trained El Toreros at short odds in the maiden hurdle at 7.20. He ran well at Leopardstown on Boxing Day in a Grade 2 hurdle but has failed to show much zest since and the morning 3.5 on BETDAQ makes him a lay rather than a play for me.
