NAP AND DOUBLE UP: Shamrock landed a ‘safe’ nap and double yesterday, with Bound For Glory (WON 4-5) and Trustan Times (WON 8-11), but is opposing the favourite with his best bet at Cork today.

Can Willie Mullins ‘do a Nicky Henderson’? Henderson scored four at one meeting in his Magnificent Seven and Mullins has three forecast favourites and a second favourite at Cork today.

Perversely, but not without reason, it’s the sole paper second-favourite I fancy to land the nap, name of Kempes.

Kempes (1.25 Cork) is best caught fresh. Apart from that, he’s two years younger than the middle-distance chaser Psycho and was at his best on heavy ground when winning the Hennessy at Leopardstown in February.

In fact, I’m more worried about New Phase, winner of this race last year, and who has had a couple of runs back on the Flat.

Local Celebrity (12.50) looks a must for Mullins fans on his hurdles bow, as does Felix Yonger (12.30) in the middle-distance equivalent.

Felix Yonger was runner-up to the very smart Bold Optimist on the debut and could be too classy for Daring Article and Prince Ludovic.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Kempes (1.25 Cork)
NEXT BEST: Felix Yonger (2.30 Cork)
DAQ TRIO: Local Celebrity (12.50 Cork), Kempes (1.25 Cork), Felix Yonger (2.30 Cork)
