‘PLACE’ IS ‘GLORIOUS’ KEMPTON PARK VALUE AT 16.0: With no Irish racing today, Shamrock tries his hand at the Betdaq-sponsored meeting at Kempton Park tonight. He finds a horse called ‘Place’ ideal for a win and place at 16.0: ‘glorious value.’
3.50 Kempton (Free Entry For Betdaq Members Maiden) If they don’t already know the essentials, those keen on an early bet had a decent book (107%) of Betdaq offers on this opening maiden at 8.30 this morning.
Most bookies don’t bother to get out of bed these days (they’ve had a long night counting their cash) and, when they get to price up the races, your honest exchanges have given them a clue to the day’s operations and a lot of value has gone. So get on early.
Know the price you want, like 16.0 Place That Face. This bred-for-speed filly is a glorious win-and-place bet, with the place return seven times bigger than the win on Gabbiano, should the odds-on favourite oblige.
4.20 Kempton (Back And Lay At betdaq.com Maiden) Hooligan Sean is not the egit who drank out of my glass in the Jurys the other night but the most experienced (second on the course recently) maiden in this race.
Yet, as in the first race, I’ll try a filly getting the allowances and likely to come on in Flann O’Brien leaps and bounds: Tribouley (7.4) is with an outfit that does well at Kempton.
4.50 Kempton (Betdaq Multiples Maiden) This is a tough one and the overround was still a bit big at 8.30 but, to be sure, the bookies will have a worse one, and it’s not often you can get 6.0 a Derby entry in a class 5 at Kempton.
Aird Snout is also half-brother to a 1,000 Guineas runner-up and shouts class of a league which only Phenomena (related to Gower Song) and Archina (Group connections on the dam’s side) could hope to match.
Archina is highly unlikely to do the business first time, being trained by Andrew Balding, and Phenomena isn’t wanted in this early market. California English is an obvious threat but has already been gelded.
5.20 Kempton (Betdaq Mobile Apps Handicap) Fine Resolve is the only maiden handicapping for the first time here; he, too, has been gelded but then so have most of the colts in this.
In another 107% tally of best offers, Fine Resolve was 3.85 when I checked things out and I can see him starting around 13-8. A value nap for me.
